Terracotta has announced the latest version of their open source Java clustering solution, Terracotta version 2.7. The new version builds on the adoption of Terracotta in specific vertical markets and applications such as reservation systems, online gaming, and information portals. In addition, it offers extended support for the Spring framework and Glassfish application server, and delivers enhanced scalability, performance, and operational visibility. It is available for download at www.terracotta.org. By reducing development time and the number of application servers and databases required to support Java infrastructures, Terracotta lowers the operational and capital costs required to support highly available and scalable web applications. Terracotta offers the performance of local memory with the high availability of a database, eliminating the performance and reliability tradeoffs that constrain many Java applications today. Terracotta has been deployed in hundreds of applications across major industries such as e-commerce, health care, travel, telecommunications, banking, and financial services. Based on these specific vertical use cases, Terracotta has distilled the best practice design patterns for various common software functions and is using them to build a set of open source reference implementations to reduce its customers' time-to-market. The first such reference implementation - using Terracotta in conjunction with products like Spring, Hibernate and MySQL - will be released shortly. LATEST JAVA STORIES & POSTS
