Replay Solutions Introduces TiVo(R) Functionality for Software; Enterprises Can Record and Replay Applications to Find Bugs
ReplayDIRECTOR(TM) for Java EE Shows Positive Results in Beta Program; Customers Can Pre-Register for Free Trial Version

Digg This!

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., March 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Replay Solutions, a provider of innovative solutions for maximizing software quality, today formally introduced a beta of its patented, software recording and replay technology for the enterprise Java applications market. With more than four years of proven performance and quality assurance in video gaming software, ReplayDIRECTOR(TM)'s innovative technology is now extended for Java EE applications to optimize software issue resolution across the application lifecycle. This technology will be on demonstration at EclipseCon, March 17-20 (http://www.eclipsecon.org/).

During a successful beta with select customers, companies have experienced very positive results with ReplayDIRECTOR's functionality. ReplayDIRECTOR captures and precisely reproduces an exact application execution, and with a standard debugger like Eclipse, it allows users to drill down into source code during replay to quickly identify the root cause of an issue.

Replay announced that interested users can register beginning today for a free trial version of ReplayDIRECTOR at http://www.replaysolutions.com/technology/replay-director-java-register.php

In today's increasingly complex and distributed corporate IT environments, replicating and resolving application issues has become extremely challenging and time-consuming. Moreover, communication and application environment disparity issues can often plague globally dispersed software teams. With ReplayDIRECTOR, software teams now have record-and-replay capabilities that can eliminate up to 80 percent of the time required to find and resolve application issues. This means applications can be deployed faster with better production uptime.

"Over the last four years, Replay Solutions has helped the world's leading game creators develop and accelerate their titles to market with our technology," said Jonathan Lindo, CEO and co-founder of Replay Solutions. "We're excited to bring ReplayDIRECTOR to the Java EE market, which continues to be a dominant platform for enterprise applications. Our TiVo-like capabilities go far beyond just video, screen captures, or parsing log files. By actually re-executing application code, we believe Replay offers a unique approach unlike any other in the industry."

ReplayDIRECTOR for Java EE offers deep recording capabilities that expedite and simplify issue resolution:

-- No source code changes are required. -- Application code is running during Replay. Every line of code that an application executes during a recording will be executed in precisely the same way during Replay. -- Recordings can be played anywhere, without requiring the original environment, databases, or other servers. -- Any standard tools can be used during Replay such as debuggers, profilers or memory leak detectors. Because code is executing, root cause analysis is quick and easy. -- Lightweight, minimal performance impact. Replay can run in production environments.

Eclipse Foundation Executive Director Mike Milinkovich commented, "Nothing pleases us more than having Eclipse community members place forward-thinking technologies on the market. ReplayDIRECTOR for Java EE will do that, and provide Eclipse users a new way to create higher quality Java applications. We are excited to have creative tools incorporated into our community."

Beta and Availability

ReplayDIRECTOR for Java EE is now in beta, with expected general availability in Q2 of 2008. It will be available under Express, Team and Enterprise edition licenses for individual users, development and quality assurance teams, and production environments respectively.
