Siemens Wind Power Selects Klocwork to Enhance the Software Quality of Its Wind Turbine Control Systems
Agreement Extends Klocwork Leadership in Safety Critical Software Market With One of the World's Largest Providers of Clean Wind

BURLINGTON, MA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 05/05/08 -- Klocwork, Inc., the proven leader in automated source code analysis solutions for improving software security and quality, today announced that Siemens Wind Power, part of Siemens Energy Sector, has selected Klocwork Insight to be used within its wind turbine control systems development group. With Klocwork, Siemens Wind Power can detect software defects earlier in the development process to reduce costs and ensure system reliability and overall safety.

As one of the largest providers of environmentally friendly wind power with operations in 24 countries, Siemens Wind Power has high availability requirements for the hardware and software systems that make-up its turbine control systems. The risk of a malfunction in the field necessitates innovative approaches to software reliability. To address this requirement, Siemens Wind Power worked with Klocwork's Scandinavian partner Nohau Solutions AB, to conduct a thorough evaluation of various static source code analysis tools before selecting Klocwork based on its ease of use, ability to detect critical bugs, and integration with Siemens Wind Power's existing environment and development processes.

"Siemens Wind Power is a global leader in innovative and reliable wind power products, much of which is managed by complex software," said Martin Olesen, Manager, Communication at Siemens Wind Power. "With the growing size and complexity of our code base, we needed a solution to enhance our already rigorous software validation process. Klocwork static source code analysis was easy to configure and setup and will allow us to enhance our software reliability while educating our developers on coding best practices."

"Klocwork is proud to be the source code analysis tool of choice for Siemens Wind Power," said Mike Laginski, Klocwork's chief executive officer. "We continue to demonstrate momentum and success in the safety critical software market and this agreement extends our leadership globally. We look forward to working with Siemens Wind Power as they drive the detection and mitigation of software defects earlier in the software development lifecycle."

Klocwork Insight is a leading static source code analysis tool for C, C++ and Java, and the only solution with a Connected Desktop Analysis capability that enables developers to run the analysis with full system context right at their desktop, before they check-in their code. Solutions are available in two versions: Klocwork Insight for C/C++ and Java and Klocwork Insight for Java.
